This is the project webpage of the development of EU Ecolabel criteria for “Printed paper, converted paper and paper carrier bags”. The study is being carried out from 2018 to 2020 for the European Commission's Directorate General for the Environment by the Joint Research Centre (JRC) Directorate B - Growth and Innovation.

The EU Ecolabel supports and encourages the production and consumption of products with a reduced environmental impact considering a life-cycle perspective. The label is awarded to the best performing products available in the market.

The EU Ecolabel criteria are based on the requirements addressed in EU Ecolabel Regulation 66/2010. Ecolabel criteria will be defined on the basis of environmental information obtained from Life Cycle Assessment and product oriented environmental performance assessment studies. Additional to the environmental performance requirements, safety and functional aspects will also be considered.

During the development and revision of EU Ecolabel criteria a broad, continuous, and interactive consultation has taken place, involving experts and stakeholders, including manufacturers, suppliers, consumer organizations and NGOs.
