Welcome to the website on the ESPR methodology consultation and revision

The Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) establishes a framework for setting ecodesign requirements to make sustainable products the norm in the EU market. To support its implementation, the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) has developed a set of methodological reports covering the assessment of life-cycle environmental impacts and circularity aspects of products, the setting of horizontal requirements, the ranking of potential requirements, the identification of substances of concern, classes of performance and labels, the Digital Product Passport, Green Public Procurement, the support to impact assessments and the contribution to EU open strategic autonomy.

Stakeholder involvement is a crucial part of this work. Through this website, the JRC will consult stakeholders on each methodological report, gather and analyse the feedback received, and publish the revised reports together with a synthesis of the consultation. The outcome of this process will be consolidated into a ‘roadmap’ document depicting the overall methodological pathway for the evaluation of products under the ESPR, to guide the experts preparing ecodesign and public procurement requirements.

This website provides information about the project team, the project plan and the indicative calendar of consultations, and gives access to the documents open for consultation. Interested parties are invited to register as stakeholders in order to be informed about upcoming consultations and to receive links to the surveys.
