DIRECTORATE B - GROWTH AND INNOVATION

Directorate B is one of the six scientific directorates of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC). Since 1994, we promote and enable a better understanding of the links between technology, economy and society. Our mission is to provide customer-driven support to the EU policy-making process by developing science-based responses to policy challenges that have both a socio-economic as well as a scientific/ technological dimension. Our work is undertaken, mainly, at the request of other Directorates General of the European Commission. In addition in recent years several assignments have been carried out for the European Parliament. Directorate B collaborates closely with the other directorates of the Joint Research Centre and multiple partners across Europe.

The Product Bureau team of the Circular Economy and Industrial Leadership Unit focuses its work on assisting DG ENV, DG ENTR, DG ENER and other DGs with technical background studies on the product policy tools of EU Ecolabel, EU Green Public Procurement, Ecodesign and Energy label for numerous product groups.

CE Delft

CE Delft is an independent Dutch research and consultancy organization that specializes in developing innovative and cutting-edge solutions to environmental problems. CE Delft operates as a not-for-profit organization on a commercial basis, employing a staff of around 40 engineers, economists, social scientists and transport experts. CE Delfts projects all aim to deliver practical but scientifically sound results, often bridging the gap between more theoretical academic research and more pragmatic, practical policy work. CE Delft has been providing technical support and policy assessments in the field of transport policies for more than a decade to the European Commission, Member State governments, stakeholder organisations, companies and environmental NGOs. CE Delft has broad knowledge of sustainable transport in general ande transport emissions and related policies in particular.

TEPR

TEPR was set up in 2009. Dr Ian Skinner, who previously worked at AEA (now Ricardo-AEA) and at the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), is a Director of TEPR and its principal researcher/consultant. TEPR provides expert input to research and consultancy policy projects for a range of clients focusing on the environmental impacts of transport, as well as contributing to the academic debate through papers, books, lectures and seminars. We work with a range of partners in the UK and elsewhere in Europe to deliver consultancy and research projects to EU and national bodies, including the European Commission, the UK Department for Transport and NGOs. TEPR specialises in the environmental impacts of transport, particularly vehicles, primarily at the European level and has been involved with many projects for the European institutions, particularly the European Commission.
