EU Ecolabel for soaps, shampoos and hair conditioners  

Project plan

This project will be based mainly on the requirements addressed in the Annex I of the Regulation (EC) No 66/2010 of the European Parliament and the council of 25 November 2009 on the EU Ecolabel and in the Communication COM(2008) 400 "Public Procurement for a better Environment".

The following six tasks are foreseen:

Task 1 Preliminary recommendation on the revision of the scope and existing criteria for soaps, shampoos and hair conditioners

Task 2 Revision of the definition and categorization of the soaps, shampoos and hair conditioners

Task 3 Market analysis

Task 4 Technical analysis

Task 5 Improvement potential

Task 6 Draft criteria proposal and technical report

The duration of this pilot project is approximately 12 months.

Registered stakeholders will be informed about the publication of draft reports, the availability of questionnaires or upcoming meetings by email.

As a service of the European Commission, the JRC functions as a reference centre of science and technology for the Union. Close to the policy-making process, it serves the common interest of the Member States, while being independent of special interests, whether private or national.
