Welcome to the 'imaging equipment' website
This is the project website for the study on developing EU Ecolabel and Green Public Procurement criteria for imaging equipment (devices with one or more of the following functions: printing, copying, faxing, scanning). This study is being carried out by the Joint Research Centre's Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (JRC-IPTS). The work is being developed for the European Commission's Directorate General for the Environment.
The purpose of this project is to develop a joint evidence base from which EU policy making in the area of imaging equipment can be developed. In this project, EU Ecolabel and Green Public Procurement criteria will be devised for this product group in line with Ecolabel Regulation 66/2010 and Communication COM(2008) 400 "Public Procurement for a better Environment".
The EU Ecolabel for imaging equipment will allow consumers to identify easily the products which have the best environmental performance in the market and manufacturers to show and communicate to their costumers that their products are compliant with high environmental standards. That way the EU Ecolabel gives a competitive advantage without setting barriers on trade. The Green Public Procurement criteria will allow public authorities to specify the minimum environmental performance requirements of the products they purchase. That way the purchase and development of environmentally friendly products is promoted and significant environmental savings can be achieved.
You can follow the progress of the study through this website. The study welcomes active participation from stakeholders. By registering as a stakeholder, you can stay informed of latest additions to this site and engage in the consultation by responding to questionnaires and/or participation at stakeholder meetings.
