Welcome to the 'EU Ecolabel for Paper Products' website

Back to Projects/Products Index

This is the project website for the revision of EU Ecolabel criteria for "Paper Products". EU GPP criteria for "Paper Products" will also be revised within the course of the project.

This study is being carried out by the Joint Research Centre's Directorate B - Growth and Innovation (JRC). The work is being developed for the European Commission's Directorate General for the Environment.

The EU Ecolabel promotes the production and consumption of products with a reduced environmental impact through the life cycle and it is awarded to the best performing products available in the market.

The EU Ecolabel criteria are based on the requirements addressed in EU Ecolabel Regulation 66/2010. The criteria are defined on the basis of the environmental information derived from Life Cycle Assessment and product oriented environmental performance assessment studies. Different environmental, safety and functional aspects are considered.

During the development and revision of EU Ecolabel criteria, it is foreseen that a broad and continuous consultation will take place with experts and stakeholders, i.e. manufacturers, supply chain industry, consumer organizations and NGOs. Stakeholder involvement is a crucial part of this study. You can follow the progress of the study through this website. By registering as a stakeholder, you can stay informed of latest additions to this site and engage in the consultation and/or participation at stakeholder meetings.
