Sustainable Production and Consumption (SUSPROC) is a scientific project carried out by the the Joint Research Centre's Directorate B - Growth and Innovation of the European Commission.

SUSPROC supports the implementation and further development of the EU Strategy for Sustainable Development, the EU Environmental Action Plan as well as the integration of environmental concerns in other European policy areas.

The EU Sustainable Development Strategy (SDS) seeks to promote economic growth and social cohesion without impairing environmental quality.

Environmental objectives must be weighed against their economic and social impacts. The Environmental Action Programme (EAP) is the EU's environmental roadmap to achieve the environmental goals of the Sustainable Development Strategy.

Within this context, SUSPROC analyses the relations between technological change, scientific developments, environment, economy and policy approaches. It contributes to policy developments with techno-economic analysis of technological options and policy measures, including Environmentally Extended Input-Output analysis, cost-effectiveness and cost benefit analyses.

As the science and knowledge service of the European Commission, the Joint Research Centre's mission is to support EU policies with independent evidence throughout the whole policy cycle.
